There are many colleges affiliated with the University of Damascus that contain their own data. Hence the need to study the flow of work procedures within the colleges and the university with the aim of automating them.
We studied the flow of work procedures and built a unified database to be the nucleus for fully automating the University of Damascus in order to move to an electronically operated environment in all its directorates, colleges, institutes and centers affiliated with it.

Damascus University suffers from the cumbersome paperwork, which can fall behind for days or even weeks for a simple paper procedure.
Its data is also scattered and inconsistent accross multiple sub-systems, each is dedicated for a single facility and is not related to any other.
Even its procedures themselves are carried out differently in within its different institutions.

This project is the study of the workflow procedures and processes between all faculties, facilities, and departments of Damascus University.
A lot of information has been gathered from the University’s employees and managers, with many verification steps to ensure it was complete and accurate.Work procedures were presented using BPMN diagrams to clarify the steps of each procedure and the details that can be improved in the work process (more than 1000 diagrams were drawn and reviewed).
A Unified Database was built to link and standardize data, and it has been made accessible based on the permissions owned by each user, each facility, and each entity.
The final vision of this project is to exploit the unified database to make the cumbersome paperwork entirely automated.
